June 2010

Hogle Zoo
Our zoo pass expired at the end of June so we went one last time...for now.

 The ADORABLE Zury

 Mason

 Ike

Vance

 Me

I think I have long arms :)

This little guy was the kids' favorite part of their entire day (as you can see in the picture above and below). Isaac kept saying "come on, come on" and waving his little fingers at him while laughing and screaming in excitement. People just stopped to watch his reaction to this lizard. I despise the idea of reptiles for pets, but I'm sure he'll convince me one day. The joys of boys!

 Mama Meerkat and her baby

This baby giraffe is almost 8 ft tall while laying down!

The penguins were one of our favorite parts of the zoo this year. They are such chickens!

Preschool

I was just too excited for him to start Preschool, and I wanted to see how he was going to handle it, and make sure he was comfortable at the Preschool he was going to go to in the fall; so I put him in summer preschool for one month. He absolutely loved it, so that was a relief!

             ..................................................................

Infact, he loved it too much. It made him think he could do anything all by himself. Like make his own chocolate milk with WAY to much chololate!  YUM :)

Here are some pics from Summer Preschool.

I think he was a little concerned about that clown!

Front Runner
We tried going to the car show, but by the time we got there, they were in the process of cleaning it all up, so we decided to be totally spontaneous and take the kids on a ride on the Front Runner. We got off in Salt Lake and took Trax to Trolley Square. We went to Chili's for dinner, and then walked around Trolley Square for a while. We then got back on Trax, and then back on the Front Runner, and back home. It was fun, and the kids were really excited to ride on a train!

At the end of the car show, Mason got to climb up into this big truck (above) and an old Fire Truck (below).

 Riding on the Front Runner

They each found something they loved at Pottery Barn in Trolley Square. Isaac found a puppy (of course), and what did Mason find??

A doll and a pink stroller. Go figure!

The clouds were way cool, rolling over the mountains.

Sick Boy
Isaac got pretty sick and had a fever of 104 for a couple days. He was very calm and happy, he just wanted to cuddle or lay down the whole time. That is the only good thing about kids being sick, is all the cuddle time :)

Campfire
We found our own private, secret spot to have a campfire up in the mountains. This event was only the beginning of a bunch of trips to this spot and others we found!

We will miss you Gramps
I had never had anyone close to me pass away. I knew people that had died, but I never knew any of them very well. I had heard many stories of people getting that phone call, so I always dreaded it. On Tuesday, June 27th, I got a phone call from my mom saying that Grandpa Thompson (my mom's dad) had passed away. This was pretty unexpected. We had just been there a few days prior to visit him for Father's Day and he was the best we had seen him in a long time. Maybe he knew. Out of all 4 of my grandparents (which were all still alive until he passed), he was the one I was closest to. He was my Gramps and I miss him like crazy.
(I will post a separate posting about him and his funeral a little later.)

I miss that adorable face!
